  2.                                GOLDEN CANDLESTICK

  4. SERIES: MOSES' TABERNACLE.                    LESSON NO.5.

  6. 1. THE PURPOSE.
  7.  
  8. The Golden Candlestick was found in the Holy Place directly
  9. opposite the Table of Shewbread.  It's purpose was to give light.
  10. It was the only illumination for the Table of Shewbread, showing
  11. us that the "bread of His Word can only be revealed to us
  12. through the illumination of the Holy Spirit.  Ex.25:37;-2
  13. Cor.3:6; John 16:13; 14:26; 1 John 1:7.

  15. Rev. 3:20 - the message to Laodicean Church.  Eph. 1:18.

  17. Light - Psalm 119:105,130 - "Thy word is a lamp unto my
  18. feet........" Perfect light is composed of 7 colours - 7 lamps of
  19. the Candlestick - 7 lamps of His Word.  Heb.6:1-2.

  21. If the Word of God is a lamp, the only way it can give light is
  22. through the oil or anointing of the Holy Spirit. 1 John 2:20,27;
  23. 1 Cor.2:9.10.

  25. Prov.4:18 - light travels and is progressive.

  27. The Church. - Rev. 1: 12,20 - prophetic of last day church.
  28. Primarily the Candlestick speaks of Jesus - John 9:5.  Christ means
  29. 'the Anointed One'.
  30. No longer is Jesus physically and bodily the light of the world,
  31. but now the Church is to reveal that light.  'Ye are the light
  32. of the world' . Matt.5:14, Phil.2:15.

  34. Rev. 1:13 - "And in the midst of the 7 Candlesticks one like
  35. unto the Son of man........ As we gather together, Christ dwells
  36. in our midst."

  38. Ex.25:31 - In the midst of the Candlestick or the Branches was
  39. "His Shaft".
  40. 'Shaft' - Heb.  "Yarek" - means 'thigh', 'loins', 'body' or
  41. 'side'.  The  shaft is a type of Christ in the midst of the
  42. Branches.  The Church (Branches) was taken from the 'side or
  43. body' of Christ, just as Eve was taken from the side of Adam.  We
  44. are now "flesh of His flesh and bone of His bones". Eph.5:30,
  45. John 15:5.

  47. The Church Age - measurements of Holy Place : lOxlOx2O cubits -
  48. 2000 cubits.
  49.  
  50. The Candlestick was the only light in the Holy Place.  This is
  51. prophetic of the Church Age of 2000 years when the Church is the
  52. only source of light the dispensation of the Holy Spirit.

  54. Lamps require lighting - Ex.25:37- the Church was lighted on the
  55. Day of Pentecost - set aflame - with "tongues of fire" Acts 2:3.

  57. 2. THE DESIGN.            Ex.25:31-40.
  58.   V.31 - "Pure Gold
  59.      -   no shittim wood.
  60.      -   purely the anointing, light and nature of God.
  61.      -   for gold to be purified it needs to be submitted to
  62.          fiery trials.
  63.      -   Job.23:10, 1 Pet.1:7.

  65. "Of beaten work shall the Candlestick be made".
  66. We are to be moulded and fashioned by the beating of the
  67. goldsmith's hammer, that we might be the light of the world.
  68. Isa.52:14; 53: 10; Heb.5:8.

  70. V.31,36,38 "Shall be of the same of a talent of pure gold".
  71. - made from one large, beaten piece of gold.  Through the beating
  72. and crushing blows of Calvary we have been made to be "partakers
  73. of the Divine nature". 2 Pet. 1:4; Heb.2: 10-11.
  74. We are inseparably joined as the branches to the vine.

  76. V.32.  "6 Branches out of the sides". 6 Branches and 1 Shaft - 7.
  77. 6 is the number of man and 1, the number of God.  The Church
  78. (Branches) can never reach perfection (the number 7) without
  79. abiding in the vine.  The source of all life and strength is from
  80. the vine and as the Church realises this relationship, it will
  81. reach perfection, revealing all the light of God.
  82. Vs.33-36 "Three bowls...with a knops and a flower....."
  83.  
  84. The total of the bowls, knops and flowers is 66 - the books of
  85. the Bible.
  86. There were not 66 separate parts but 66 pieces fashioned out of
  87. one piece.
  88. The books of the Bible are one piece.
  89.  
  90. The Oil.  Lev.24:2-4.
  91. "Pure Olive Oil beaten".  Gethsemane means "oil" or "olive
  92. press".
  93. -   it is through the Gethsemane experience that God extracts a
  94. greater anointing from our lives.
  95. Matt. 25: 1-10 - the wise virgins were prepared - they had
  96. submitted to the crushings of the olive press.
  97. Zech.4:2,6 - the Church in this end of the age is to experience
  98. the fullness of the Holy Spirit.

  100. "7 pipes " - 7 Spirits of God Isa. 11: 2. "Two olive trees " - 2
  101. witnesses.  Rev. 11:
  102.  
  103. -  we are witnesses through the power of the Holy Spirit.
  104.    Acts l:8.
  105.  
  106.      "To burn continually".
  107. -    a candle burns by the consumption of itself - a lamp burns by
  108.      the means of oil that is poured into it.  A lamp has to be
  109.      continually replenished.
  110.      The High Priest poured in oil twice daily when he ministered
  111.      at the Altar of Incense - showing that as we minister at the
  112.      Altar of Incense (praise, prayer), the Lord tops us up with fresh
  113.      oil. Wicks trimmed at time of incense.

  115.      He trims off the old burnt-out parts so as not to hinder the
  116.      flame.  He does this through the sacrifice of praise in the
  117.      midst of a trial or testing.  Ex.30:7-8, Heb.13:15.

  119. 3.   SOLOMON'S TEMPLE.
  120.  
  121.      Last dwelling place of God in the Old Testament - prophetic of the
  122.      Last Day Church - eternal resting place of God - staves taken out.
  123.      10 Candlesticks. 1 Kings 7:49.
  124.      The number of trial and testing, Dan.1.,12; Rev.2:10.
  125.      Solomon's Temple was twice as long and wide as Moses'
  126.      Tabernacle - Speaks of the double portion.
  127.      3 times higher - higher spiritual realms, showing that the
  128.      Church is coming into a greater realm of the anointing and
  129.      of the Spirit through trial and testing.  Our capacity is to
  130.      be enlarged to take more of the anointing.
